Spray polyurethane foam (SPF) is made by mixing and reacting chemicals to create a foam. The mixing and reacting materials react very quickly, expanding on contact to create foam that insulates, air seals and provides a moisture barrier.

SPF insulation is known to resist heat transfer extremely well, and it offers a highly effective solution in reducing unwanted air infiltration through roof, cavity walls, cracks, seams, and joints.

Spray polyurethane foam (SPF) insulation is a great way to save on energy costs and improve comfort. It is a spray-applied cellular plastic that forms a continuous barrier on walls, around corners and on all contoured surfaces.

Gaps, holes and air leaks—which can all be prevented—can make heating and cooling costs unnecessarily high and let valuable resources go to waste.

Spray foam offers a solution: it performs as both insulation and an air sealant, or air barrier, closing those nooks and crannies that let air escape.

Your home’s heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system has a big effect on your electricity bills and your energy consumption. Maintaining an optimal HVAC system can make your home or buildings more energy efficient. Spray foam insulation can help reduce the workload on your HVAC system thanks to its high R-value and effectiveness. In fact, with spray foam, HVAC sizing can be reduced as much as 35% without the loss of efficiency and comfort.

SPF is Compliant with SANS 10400-XA Energy Efficiency in Buildings - National Building Regulations standard requirements reduce the use of energy from electricity, oil, gas or other fuels used for heating and cooling. All new buildings are required to meet these new building requirements and in order to comply with the standards various insulation requirements are provided.

Spray foam is an excellent way that you can incorporate energy reductions into your building design.  The Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance (SPFA) conducted a life cycle assessment of spray foam insulation.  The results of the study show that the energy and environmental benefits from spray foam insulation used in new residential construction and commercial roofing retrofits far outweigh the  energy and environmental impacts.
